Shaking the Blues Away

What more can I say? Dorothy Rabinowitz unintentionally tipped the scales in favor of safer, more humane streets when she introduced the word “begrimed” into the worldwide lexicon and declared that the enterprising Bike Lobby was all powerful. Thanks Dorothy, we all owe you one.

It’s not just the #bikenyc community that has benefited from her irrational statements, but the worldwide community of people who want to see safer more humane streets- designed for people, not cars.

Whether you’re actively involved in advocacy or not, the simple act of getting out there and riding a bike -be it one of the begriming blue Citibikes or just your own trusty two wheels – makes you a part of it. One voice is powerful. Multitudes of voices = a growing chorus of peaceful and revolutionary change.

Citibike may be having a few software glitches (yeah, they need to get that fixed ASAP) but OUR TIME is here. Seize the day. Don’t rest easy. Make your voices be heard around the world. Keep asking for the changes that will make our streets safer.

Someday, bicycles as transport will be as normal as brushing your teeth- everywhere. In the meantime, begrime away.
